Jeff's career in the US Army and government service:
Jeff's professional journey began when he enlisted in the US Army in 1979. Throughout his dedicated service, he rose to the rank of Major and completed over 21 years of active and reserve duty. In 1988, Jeff transitioned to the mortgage industry, starting as a Loan Officer in Phoenix, AZ. However, in 1990, he joined the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and held various positions in different VA offices across the United States. After an impressive tenure of more than 31 years in federal service, Jeff retired from the government in October 2017. During his time in the VA's Loan Guaranty Division, he served as the Loan Guaranty Officer at the Phoenix Regional Loan Center. In this role, he provided oversight for all participants in the VA Home Loan program across multiple states, including New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Hawaii, and the Pacific Islands.
Jeff's post-retirement career in the mortgage industry:
Following his retirement, Jeff continued his involvement in the mortgage industry, primarily focusing on business development roles. He served as the Vice President of Military and Veteran Lending at Caliber Home Loans and held previous positions as the Vice President of Veteran and Military Lending for CMG Financial, as well as the Director of VA Business Development for American Pacific Mortgage. These roles allowed Jeff to contribute his extensive knowledge and experience in serving veterans and military personnel.
Involvement in professional organizations:
Jeff's commitment to supporting veterans extends beyond his professional endeavors. He is an alumnus of Leadership VA, having completed the program in 2010. Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Veterans Committee for the National Association of Mortgage Brokers. Additionally, he is a member of the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals (VAREP), where he has served on the National Education Committee and provides consultation for their Legislative Committee.
New career venture and personal life:
On March 1, 2023, Jeff embarked on a new career path as the owner of VA Housing Educators and Consulting, LLC. This venture enables him to share his expertise by teaching in both the real estate and mortgage industries, while also providing consulting services to professionals seeking guidance on VA home loans. By leveraging their collective skills and knowledge, Jeff and Kimberly are dedicated to assisting more military families in achieving homeownership. On a personal note, Jeff now resides in Punta Gorda, Florida, along with his wife Kimberly and their dog Bob. Together, they are enjoying the process of renovating their new home and embracing the vibrant Florida lifestyle.
Kimberly divides her time between Punta Gorda, Florida, and Reno, Nevada. She recently tied the knot with her husband, Jeff, and they take pleasure in their home, where they reside with their beloved dog, Bob.
Intrigued by the predominantly military and veteran population, they discovered a captivating community known as Punta Gorda Isles and are presently engaged in an extensive renovation of their residence there.
Kimberly's career in residential Real Estate commenced in 2005 in Reno, Nevada. Growing up in a military family, she developed a strong dedication to serving active-duty service members and veterans, which continues to drive her passion.
In addition to her local board of Realtors involvement, Kimberly is a member of the Federal Financing and Housing Policy Committee for the National Association of Realtors. Her deep understanding of the VA Home Loan program positions her to provide valuable insights to this committee.
Recently, Kimberly obtained her real estate license in Florida, as well as her Mortgage Loan Officer license for the state. This additional expertise has enhanced her ability to assist clients by gaining further insight into the loan process.
Kimberly is an active member of the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals, having served at both local and national levels. She previously served on the National Education Committee and currently holds the position of House a Vet coordinator. Furthermore, Kimberly is currently engaged in several upcoming projects slated for introduction in late 2023 and extending into 2024.
Having previously instructed in Nevada, she is now expanding her educational contributions nationwide.
